Dr Lucy has undertaken postgraduate training in Dermatology, and has gained the University of Glasgow Postgraduate Diploma in Dermatology. She brings her experience and understanding of skin, in disease and health, to Arden Aesthetics. She can advise you on how to maintain healthy skin, and can advise you on the treatment of specific skin problems such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, excessive sweating, dry, itchy or flaky skin, skin lumps and lesions, scars and rashes.
As we age, our skin loses its youthful plumpness, and can become lax and wrinkled. Dermal fillers can be used to reduce facial wrinkles, such as the lines that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth, and to restore lost volume in the face and the lips. Dermal fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural component of the skin. The results are immediate, and the effects can last for 18 months or longer. Most clients have a further treatment when they feel the effect is starting to diminish. With repeated treatments the effects often last longer.
If you choose not to have the treatment repeated, the correction of the wrinkles and the enhanced lip effect will gradually become less noticeable until your skin looks like it did before the treatment.
What does the treatment involve?
All Arden Aesthetics treatments follow a detailed pre-treatment consultation. At this consultation you will discuss the treatment goal, and the look you wish to achieve. Dr Lucy will advise you as to which type of dermal filler and which treatment areas she would recommend to help you get the results you want. If you decide to proceed, Dr Lucy will make a detailed recording of your medical history and conduct a careful examination of your face.
The dermal filler is injected into specific areas of your skin to reduce the depth of the skin crease. Dr Lucy will customise the exact depth and number of injections to give you the most natural, rejuvenated result.
The procedure takes about 15-30 minutes and the results are visible immediately. You can continue with your normal day after treatment, but you should leave the treated area alone for 48 hours to let it settle. We advise that you do not have a facial or similar treatment that may disturb the products or expose the newly-treated areas to strong sunlight for 2-3 days.
Occasionally some mild bruising occurs, and there may be some redness and minimal swelling, which normally settles in 1-2 days.
Facial movements help us to express ourselves, but are also a factor in the development of facial lines and wrinkles. By relaxing the muscles of the face in the areas that are prone to wrinkle formation, these ageing lines can be reduced. The aim of treatment is to smooth the skin without entirely eliminating expressive movement, to give a natural but rejuvenated result Botox can also be used to prevent the wrinkles developing in the first place.
How does it work?
Botox acts on the nerve endings that take supply to the muscles. This temporarily reduces muscle activity. The effect lasts for about four months. Once the effect has worn off, muscle activity will return to normal. With repeated treatment, the effect may last longer.
Is it safe?
Botox has been used medically, in far higher doses than those used in cosmetic treatments, for many years.
It is one of the safest cosmetic procedures available, and this fact, combined with the remarkable results that can be achieved, has made it the world’s most popular non-surgical treatment.
Side effects of Botox® treatments are rare. There is a small possibility of the treatment being dispersed into an adjacent muscle, which can cause a temporary weakness such as drooping of the upper eyelid. These effects are temporary, lasting a few weeks at most.
What does Botox treatment involve?
All Arden Aesthetics treatments follow a detailed pre-treatment consultation during which Dr Lucy will ask questions about your medical history, discuss what improvements you would like achieve, and will assess you face and skin.
After cleansing the skin, the injections are administered to the areas which you have decided to have treated. The needle used is extremely fine and most clients experience only minimal discomfort.
Treatment with Botox® takes about 15 minutes. You will start to see the effects develop slowly over the following week resulting in the lines visibly decreasing.
Following the treatment there may be minimal redness. Bruising is uncommon. Most clients continue with their normal day without anybody noticing.
It is important not to massage or rub the areas after treatment so we advise you not to have a facial or do vigorous exercise. We also recommend that you remain upright for 3-4 hours after your treatment. Dr Lucy will arrange a review appointment after 2 weeks and provide a top up treatment at no additional cost if required.
Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy™ is an advanced medical skin-needling procedure that stimulates the skin to regenerate and repair itself naturally and safely, leaving your skin smoother, brighter and healthier looking. It is an effective treatment for lines and wrinkles, sun damaged or ageing skin, stretch marks and scarring. It is most often used on the face and décolletage, but can be used anywhere on the body.
The Dermaroller procedure does not inject anything artificial into your skin. It simply encourages a natural process of rejuvenation.
The effects begin within days, and continue to develop over six weeks or so. For most clients, optimal results are achieved with a course of three treatments at six week intervals. An annual treatment helps to maintain the healthy freshness of the skin.
What does the procedure involve?
The area to be treated will be numbed with a local anaesthetic cream to ensure your comfort. The selected area is then treated with the dermaroller. Some clients find the treatment mildly uncomfortable. At the end of the procedure, your skin will be slightly red and is likely to remain so for the rest of the day. It is important to avoid excess sun exposure during this period. You will be given instructions and porducts to speed recovery and protect you skin after the treatment.
By the next day, your skin should return to normal and you will be able to work and perform most social activities.
